Delta One and the Law of Unintended Consequences

Leaving JFK and checking into the Virgin Clubhouse, the gentleman at the lounge reception desk had great difficulty with my reply of “Delta One” when he asked what cabin I was traveling in. (He also had trouble with my watch’s boarding pass incidentally). He kept me waiting while he admitted others onto the lounge, saying he has to verify my flight with Delta.

Leaving LHR this morning, the gentleman doing the security questions kept insisting Delta One had departed and kept asking what cabin I was in. The answer – recited in front of large Delta One signage – wasn’t apt to change. I walked up to the agent bypassing him and asked for someone more aware to do the questions.

While the Delta One name isn’t bad, it does seem to confuse the easily confused.
